Like almost all of the guitar players all over the world, I assume that you too also want to be successful in your career. Even if you are still a beginner guitar player, there is no reason for you to aim for success. Success means reaching a certain goal in your guitar playing career. Like for example, recording an album becoming a session guitar player for famous artists and the likes, you know what I mean. Once you have completed this goal, this is what you call success. Now, I know you want that too so you better listen to me.

There is no formula for success. No shortcuts and no cheats. But if you have certain traits and attitudes that are positive, maybe you can get there in an assured sort of way and probably a bit quicker than usual. What are these characteristics? There is probably a lot but you could sum it up into a few. First, DEDICATION. Dedicating a certain amount of your time to guitar playing is definitely a must. This would be the breeding ground of progress. DETERMINATION is also necessary. You should set your goals and be focused on it. Lastly, PRACTICE. All of these things would be worthless if you don’t practice hard enough.

Promote your performances. People should know about you, inform them about you.
Once the crowd is there, make sure that you can hold their attention, be able to involve your audience and raise their energy levels. Create an “A” set list. Put your good songs together.
If you happen to have an album, the set “A” list need not to be in the same sequence as your album. You can include other songs such as cover songs if you want to.
Observe some established performances. Attend some live shows and observe how other performers plan their performances.
Practice the set ahead of time. That way, you can develop a feel for how long the show will be. This will also give you a better understanding on how to employ transition between songs. Preparation and rehearsal time are an artist’s best friends.

For me, this is the most natural thing that I could do. As a musician and a guitar player, being a songwriter is worthwhile. Not only that you could play guitar well but you could also write songs with the guitar as well that’s why a songwriter who knows how to play a guitar or a piano could write better songs more effectively than those who doesn’t know how to play any instrument. That is why if you don’t know how to play the guitar, you better start learning now, it is worth it.

Now how to write songs? Actually, there is no fixed way of doing this, you could do it in every way you could but the most common are these methods:

Melody first – Create a melody in your head and create a corresponding lyrics to the melody. Afterwards, determine the note or chords of the melody plus the lyrics. Arrange the structure of the song and add some finishing touches and then you’re done.
Lyrics first – create some lyrics out of your own poetry or your thoughts. Now put some melody on it. Arrange the structure then add some finishing touches.
Riff first – create a riff on the guitar. Add some lyrics on it and then arrange the structure.

ROCK AND ROLL’S CRAZIEST MOMENTS

I could pride myself on being a part of it… That is why I would like to share with you the greatest and crazy as rock and roll moments in the in the history of television. If you are really a rock and roll fan you might have heard are saw this moments passed by. So right now I am going to share the few things that I’ve saw on the internet, the crazy rock and roll stuff that happened on television.

Who would have forget the explosive performance of The Who on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour way back in the 60’s, late 60’s to be exact. They were supposed to create a little explosion at the end of the song, just enough to make the show a bit exciting. The first time they tried it, it didn’t went off, so they placed some load into, another guy placed another load and Keith Moon also placed another load in it so the explosion was a bit shocking. It went off thrice as larger than they expected. Anyway, no one was hurt during the explosion.

REST

Just because you’re told to practice hard it doesn’t mean that you won’t even take breaks. Is very important that you have period of rest between your activities. Not only because it would give you more energy, has it had also other benefits. It makes practicing less tiring and less boring; it helps you prevent the risks of having injuries, and also gives the mine more time to process information. But that doesn’t end on that.

Most people have already experienced the benefits without even realizing it. For example, you’re practicing guitar real hard for the whole day, and then you have to go out for something. When you come back you noticed that your guitar playing is a more better and has improved. You might not notice it but that is one benefit of rest. Especially on work, it is not good to work straight. Should take a break once in awhile; get yourself a nap for 20 minutes and that would be enough to recharge your body and mind and would give you power to move on further rest of the day. This is a proven fact. So whenever your practicing hard the whole week, give yourself a well deserved break and you would notice good results.

How do you conquer stage fright? Well there are lots of ways to phase it. You should always consider and think about yourself before you perform. Stress and anxieties can affect your voice, persona and performance in a negative way. It should always be mentally and physically well prepared. Having known that you have practice your songs and performance though roughly will give you the confidence and resolve to take the stage and flaunt your guitar skills. Another way to overcome stage fright is to take your mind off it. Tell yourself that stage fright is only a figment of your imagination which can be conquered and removed if you are determined enough to do it. Once you have done it, you can do it over and over again and you’ll succeed in getting rid of stage fright forever. This is the most effective way of conquering the so-called stage fright. It has been a problem for most of the aspiring guitar players. The nerve wrecking experience is not good when you are performing. IMPROVING YOUR ACCURACY

Accuracy in playing the guitar matters a lot. In fact, you should play the note acid is and how it should be playing and you should play a note that you intend to play, not by accident. The bend is a guitar technique use to transition from one note to another without plucking it again. The idea is to get a first note, bend it up or down to the desired note. Usually, we use our ring finger to bend it up and support it with our middle and index finger. Whole step bends are bending a note up a whole step, meaning two frets up. Half bends are bending a note one fret up.

WHY IS A METRONOME IMPORTANT

A metronome is a device that is used to keep your timing. The timing is indicated by clicks and ticks or whatever you want it to be. It is based on the tempo that you set. So why is this important for guitar players? Well, one reason is to keep you in tempo. Guitar players have the tendency to go off tempo when doing a solo or a riff. Metronomes are here to keep you inside a tempo. Some metronomes are audible and some are visual. Me, I prefer the audible ones, pretty much easier to follow as long as you could hear it.

For beginners, it is also good to start practicing with metronome. Not only that you would benefit from it in the future, you could also properly improve your practicing since you could set the tempo. You could start from slow and gradually raise the notch up every time you master it. It is important to be gradual when you are a beginner. This is the best method to learn things quickly and efficiently. Every guitar teacher or at least the good ones would always tell you that it is true. You should always start with the lowest level and when you feel like you’ve mastered it, raise it up a notch. Don’t do things abruptly. Metronomes are a great help when it comes to this.

You’ll find that owning and using a metronome will be very beneficial in your acoustic guitar lessons and that the vast majority of guitar teachers will advise you to use one in your daily practice routine.

SMOKE ON THE WATER

Ever wonder what is the story behind the legendary hit song from the legendary band, Deep Purple? Well, let me tell you the story.

A guy named Claude Nobs founded the Montreux Jazz festival in Montreux, Switzerland. He’s the guy behind it and had it running for 44 years now. In 1971, he organized a gig for Frank Zappa which includes Rolling Stones and Deep Purple. Somewhere along the set of Frank Zappa, a fan shot a flare up to the ceiling that instantly created a massive fire. To prevent casualties, Frank Zappa, took his sturdy Gibson guitar and smashed the windows with it so Nobs could take all the kids out of the fire and into the safety. The concert happened on Montreux Casino. While the disaster takes place, the band Deep Purple was watching all the horror, and they also saw Nobs saving people. They were supposed to record on the casino the next day and have to relocate somewhere since the casino burned down to ashes.

The next day, they surprised Nobs with the song Smoke on the Water but said it won’t be a single, just bonus or something but Nobs insisted that they make it a single since he feels it would be a hit. Well, we all know what happened next.

Yes, indeed, I know deep inside of each music lover burns a desire to be a Rockstar. Big house, 15 cars, women, alcohol and stuff that rock stars have. Well, I tell you my friend, that right there is a POSIBBLE thing. But first let’s start with being nobody’s first.

So you want to be a Rockstar? Learn an instrument or learn how to sing. Practice practice and practice that is the rule of the game. Let’s say you came to a level that is good enough. Now, you create the perfect rock song. A song that would sell to everyone, something that could rock the whole world. And then, create a band. Do gigs and rock out to your ultimate performances. Give it your all; give it your best shot.

Just keep on doing these things until somebody notices you. once, you get noticed, you could sell your music, get popular and major labels would go after you, give you deals worth millions then lets you live the life, the Rockstar life. Easy? Easy to say but takes so much to do. Not every one of us could make it but everybody could try. So, try it, who knows, you might be something.
